Applied History

When cost per lead jumps, the answer should be in a log.

Applied History is the audit trail for Growth-driven Google Ads changes. What changed, when, which surface fired, what the data showed, and how to reverse a removal. Most accounts cannot answer why March looked different.

The problem

What goes wrong without it

Google Ads change history is hard to read and easy to forget. A recommendation applied itself. Someone paused a keyword. A negative went in during a cleanup. Three weeks later cost per lead is up and nobody can reconstruct the sequence.

Without a product-owned trail that names the source and the reason, every performance review becomes folklore.

What it does

From change to a readable record

  1. 01

    Every Growth change is logged

Actions proposed or applied from AI Manager, Wasted Clicks, Search Terms and Conflict Fix land in one chronological trail.

  2. 02

    What, when, where, why

Each row carries the action type, keyword or target, campaign and ad group context, source surface, rationale, status and timestamps.

  3. 03

    Pending stays reviewable

Unfinished proposals remain visible. You can still Confirm or Cancel from the trail instead of losing them in chat history.

  4. 04

    Removals can be re-added

When a keyword was removed through this path, you can put it back on the same ad group from the history row.

  5. 05

    Optimizer has its own trail

Optimizer pauses, trims and search-term actions keep a separate action log with approve, dismiss and undo. Applied History covers the Growth surfaces. Both exist so nothing important is oral history.

The rules

What this module refuses to leave oral

Rule 01

Chronological Trail

Growth-driven writes and pending proposals stay in one ordered log.

Rule 02

Source Labels

Every row shows which surface produced the change.

Rule 03

Pending Review

Unconfirmed proposals remain Confirm or Cancel from history.

Rule 04

Re-add Removals

A removed keyword can be put back from the same trail.

Rule 05

Explain CPA Moves

When cost per lead jumps after a change wave, start with the log, not guesswork inside Google Ads alone.
