THE THREE KINDS

What are the three kinds of Google Ads agent?

Same phrase. Very different things.

  1. KIND 1

    Google's Ask Advisor.

Google's own agent, built into your Google Ads account. Google describes it as an agentic conversational experience built within Gemini capabilities.

    • Answers questions about your account
    • Troubleshoots performance and policy issues
    • Can implement suggested changes with your approval

Beta. Only if your account is eligible.

    Google Ads Help: Ask Advisor
  2. KIND 2

    An independent AI agent.

Software from another company that connects to your account with your permission. It plans, builds and adjusts campaigns.

    • Some only suggest changes
    • Some apply changes on their own
    • The rules differ by product

Ask what it can change before you connect.

  3. KIND 3

    A person or an agency.

A freelancer, an in-house marketer or an agency who works in your account.

    • You agree the scope up front
    • Their availability sets the pace
    • Cost usually follows their time

    Ask who owns the account.

THE HONEST ANSWER

Can AI build and run campaigns for a local business?

Yes. AI can research keywords, build ad groups, draft ads and adjust campaigns. The part worth keeping in your hands is anything that spends more money or changes where your calls come from.

Google's own agent follows the same pattern. Its help page lists pausing a campaign and updating a daily budget among the things you can ask it to do, and says it implements suggested changes with your approval.

AI does the groundwork.

Finding what people type when something goes wrong. Water heater leaking. Burst pipe. Clogged drain. Then building campaigns around those searches.

You approve the important changes.

Important account changes wait for your OK before they launch.

You can see what happened.

Applied History keeps a record of what changed in your account.

Example searches are for illustration. Your customers' searches will differ by trade and area.

BEFORE YOU CONNECT

What should you ask before you connect one?

One question does most of the work: what can it change without asking you first? That is the whole difference between a tool that suggests and one that acts on its own. The other five questions worth asking, and where to check your own Google Ads auto-apply settings, are on a separate page.

What needs your approval

WHERE VETTEDAD FITS

Where does VettedAd fit?

VettedAd is an AI Google Ads manager for local and service businesses. It builds and runs Search campaigns around what people actually search for. That makes it the second kind on this page: an independent AI agent.

THE RULE WE BUILD AROUND

Important changes wait for your approval.

That's how VettedAd is set up. You keep the final say on the changes that matter.

Illustration only. Not real account data.

Not the right fit?

If you sell products online and run Shopping campaigns judged on return on ad spend, VettedAd isn't built for that. It's built for businesses that live on inbound calls.

VettedAd isn't affiliated with Google.

FROM REAL ACCOUNTS

What do we know that a research-only guide wouldn't?

Every AI ads tool says a human stays in control. The hard part is not agreeing with that. It is deciding which changes are big enough to be worth stopping for, because if everything needs approval, nobody reads any of it.

VettedAd draws that line with a number. A pause runs on its own when it is small and reversible. It becomes a proposal when the keyword carries more than 28 percent of the account's spend, or when it is the last active keyword in its group. Those two cases are where an automated pause stops being a tidy-up and starts being the reason the phone went quiet.

Pauses and trims also carry a 24-hour undo window, and the Optimizer has a kill switch. Approval-first is not one setting. It is a set of thresholds somebody had to choose.

WHO IT'S FOR

Who is this for?

If people search for the job you do, it belongs here.

  1. Plumbers

Water heater leaking. Burst pipe. Clogged drain. The searches that turn into calls.

  2. Electricians

Outlet sparking. Breaker keeps tripping. Panel upgrade.

  3. Driving schools

Driving lessons near me. Road test prep.

  4. Dentists

Toothache today. New patient exam. Emergency dentist.

  5. Tax and financial planning services

Tax return help. Small business bookkeeping. Google lists these as Tax services and Financial planning services, not accountant.

  6. Home service businesses

If people search for the job you do, it belongs here.

  7. Agencies

Managing several local accounts? Google Ads Help says Ask Advisor isn't available in MCC accounts. VettedAd has a page for agencies.
